Abstract

The article presents the method and results of multi-criteria spatial analysis of the potential location of photovoltaic farms for the Torzym commune, located in the western part of the country, sunniest part of Poland. Based on the available literature, environmental and economic criteria determining the location of solar farms and their boundary values were determined. AHP analysis allowed to determine that the most important location factors, in the study area, were the terrain topography, namely sun exposure and slope. Land use, in particular 62% of forest cover and legally protected areas triggered that almost 90% of the commune's area was excluded from investment activities. Finally, the adopted criteria allowed the designation of 111 areas larger than 2 ha, whose total area is only 1.6% of the Torzym commune.
