Abstract

The paper presents the concept of an information system, which combines GIS with semantic web technologies. It relies on the integration of spatial data as well as information and knowledge about space, which defines the scope of the system. Thesauri and ontologies are used for this purpose. This approach enables to build intelligent systems for analysis and decision making in the field of spatial planning, including urban planning issues, the location of investment, property management, environmental protection and management of technical infrastructure and transportation. The second part of the paper describes development environment, which supports the implementation of systems developed according to the described concept.
These solutions are an attempt of practical implementation of the idea of an intelligent spatial information infrastructure.
