Abstract

Dynamic progress in the area of geospatial information brings about the need to determine trends in broadly conceived geospatial information management, taking into account all processes of geospatial data collection, storage, verification, processing, updating and making available. After a short characteristics of forecasting these trends, the paper presents in turn results of executed or initiated forecasting efforts conducted by various organizations and research teams. Particular attention is paid to future development of geoinformation infrastructures, which constitute at present the basic form of geospatial information management at different levels – from local to global. On the basis of this review of views and visions general conclusions and recommendations are presented.
